Bangalore Weather crisis -Bangalore-Continuous rains disrupt public life in the city
The weather has taken a turn in Bangalore as continuous heavy rains continue in the city and daily life has been disrupted.
According to the latest IMD forecast, Bangalore is likely to receive incessant rains for the next 48 hours, and some localities like Kormangala, Whitefield and Hebble are already knee-deep in water. The city’s drainage systems have failed to cope with the heavy rains, causing severe waterlogging in many low-lying areas.
Traffic disrupted and power cuts in Bangalore due to flooding
Traffic has come to a standstill on major roads like the Outer Ring Road, MG Road and the Electronic City Flyover, leaving thousands of commuters stranded for hours. Public transport is also facing massive disruption as BMTC buses and autos struggle to navigate the inundated roads.
Emergency services are on high alert due to continued reports of falling trees, power outages and flooding of apartments. Officials have urged residents to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary and advised IT companies in the city to work from home.
Meteorologists have warned that this is the heaviest monsoon rain Bangalore has received in recent years and if the rains continue at this pace, the situation could worsen.
Citizens are advised to keep an eye on live weather updates, traffic advisories and emergency helpline numbers as more disruption is expected due to rains in Bangalore.
